Transforming Communities
BLI forms leaders for rural transformation. BLI’s Caretakers are empowered to create change in their communities by practicing and sharing the pillars of Integral Ecology. By training Caretaker leaders in Integral Ecology, BLI supports a flourishing future for all Uganda and around the world.
Flavia's Family Farm
After graduating middle school, Flavia Nabaggala had to drop out of school as her family did not have enough funds to pay for further schooling. Twenty years later, Flavia has founded the BIO Family Farm, which provides organic food for her family and her local community.
The journey to today was not always easy. At one point, Flavia had to walk ten kilometers every day to and from school. During her time at BLI, Flavia juggled being both a mother and a student. She also gave birth to her third child––Lazarus––during her time at BLI. Nevertheless, Flavia thrived, earning herself the award for Best Academic Achiever.
She has since used her BLI education to open BIO Family Farm and encourage other women and mothers in her community to pursue further education and chances for economic empowerment.
Data and Reports
BLI is committed to measuring our impact, both quantitatively and qualitatively. We are in regular communication with our Caretakers across Uganda, tracking their progress once they leave BLI to see the results of their education with us. Additionally, we collect data about the plants, trees, and wildlife species on our campus to track improvements in biodiversity.
